“As a kid I watched how my grandfather was tinkering with bicycles in the garage. The frames and instruments were scattered all over the space. That is where I was bitten by the bicycle bug. With my grandfather as an example, I learned how to make frames myself and thus I started with Fer Cycles.

I think steel is a fantastic material to work with because it's so workable. You can do anything with it.

I make between twelve and fifteen bicycles per year. Too little to make a living, but that's not why I do it. Making a good customised product is more important to me than turning over large volumes.

I don't just make steel bicycles because I enjoy it. It is also a family tradition, which I am holding in honour”
