BikeCAD Pro How To Forum

I'm not sure if this is (still) a feature request, but I got a streamdeck to help me remember how to do certain things in bikecad (I'm not great remembering icons only) and can only see "shortcuts" for a few top level options like file, view and help whereas I'd like to shortcut the things I often forget like how to see the stay clearance, etc.

Is there an API available or shortcut keys so I can program macros into my steam deck? I saw a request from years ago, but wasn't certain if I'd missed where or how these are implemented.

Keyboard shortcuts

I regret there are no more keyboard shortcuts than the ones you've already found. I will look into this for a future update. In the meantime, it's worth pointing out the various things that can be done in BikeCAD just by right clicking on certain entities. This is discussed at: bikecad.ca/ease_of_use_improvements_version_10.

Also, a lot of efficiency can be gained through the use of Dimension templates, or Display templates described at: bikecad.ca/templates_in_bikecadpro. If you use templates a lot and want quicker access to them, you can have them appear as buttons right in the main BikeCAD interface. For more info, see: bikecad.ca/relocate_templates.

On "Alt-keys"

Thank you, as always, for your personal response.

If I might suggest, if you do have an opportunity to implement, that a simple sequential (rather than heirarchial or more "organised") number system would be optimal for automated control. I can hardly imagine that implementing an alt-key sequence for everything would be a huge pain, but for the purposes of automation even a separate java helper app/thread in the pro which allows us to send numerical or other "codes" and a lookup table would be perfect for macro purposes.  I realise my needs are just that and somewhat specialised, but remembering all the commands in all the programs wears on me so I use the same icons on the macro keyboard for every program so I don't have to tax my brain any further:)
