problems in loading a design
I am having the same problem. Currently, even the Quickstart is hanging after a second or so.
I am having the same problem
same here
Be aware that a loading message and an animated crank will appear when the applet first starts to load. Unfortunately, there is a relatively long period of time between when that message disappears and when the applet actually finishes loading. Do not be discouraged if the screen is white for a little while. Give it some time, and then a little more time if needed. The applet should load eventually.
If you do get an error message, or if you are certain that the applet has failed to load, another thing to consider is trying Java 7 (also known as 1.7) You can download it from: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html That page also provide links to the JDK (Java development kit) However, you should only need the JRE (Java Runtime Environment)
Just to be clear. BikeCAD does not technically require anything more than Java 1.5. However, it is theoretically possible that a particular build or update of Java might cause a problem. I have heard from a couple people that experienced trouble with Java 1.6.31, but found 1.7.03 to work well.
I have the same problem .
I tried with differents browser, IE , Chrome , Safari : impossible to open a design
Quit whining about your PC problems.
If you can't figure it out, go Hire some help.
i tried some things and installing another java version seems to solve the problem...
I updated to Java 1.7. Now instead of it hanging after a second or two I get an error message without it starting to load. I would like some advice from someone who knows more about Java than I do.
I completely uninstalled java. then reinstalled it.
I still get an error message. there is a box that says "Null". when I go to the details I get this-
Java Plug-in 10.3.0.5
Using JRE version 1.7.0_03-b05 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM

t: dump thread list

Now I am getting an Exception error

any thoughts on how to correct this?
i'm also having all of these problems. i tried java 1.5 (last update), 1.6_29, and 1.7_03 on IE, chrome, and firefox. i also tried it on two other different computers to no avail. is there a version of java that this was specifically designed for? thank you
The bytecode for the BikeCAD applet is compiled with Java 1.5.0_22. I've done that for the sake of users whose machines are incapable of running anything greater than Java 1.5 . However, I'm currently running the applet on Java 1.7_03 on a PC and Java 1.6.0_29 on a Mac. I've also successfully ran it on just about every Java build between 1.5 and the latest.
I'm sorry to hear about your trouble. I regret I don't have any specific advice for you beyond clearing your browser's cache and possibly restarting your computer.
