BikeCAD Pro How To Forum

Hi, im new in this world, you have a great program.

A question, when i load a recent cad file, the program runs too slow. Cant do anything, my computer its too fast, a nvidia graphic and an i7 processor.

Any solutions?

Sorry for my english. Thanks and greetings.

Speeding things up

If it seems like things are running slow, that's usually because the chain and rear derailleur are being shown. Does this describe your situation? Do things speed up when you turn off the display of those two items?

I turn off the chain, but its slow yet. Its a fixie bike, without brakes, derailleur, etc etc. Dont know the problem.

Improvement for 11.5

Thanks for passing along that file. It has long been known that turning on the display of either the chain or the rear derailleur can slow down performance. In the case of a fixed gear bike, there is no rear derailleur to show, so one would assume that merely turning off the display of the chain would be sufficient to ensure fast performance. I didn't realize this until now, but even if there is no rear derailleur, if the eyeball icon for the rear derailleur is turned on Display, things will still be slower than if the eyeball icon is turned off Do not display.

I have corrected this issue for the next update of BikeCAD. In the next update, if the bike is a fixed gear with no rear derailleur, there will be no need to turn off the display icon for the rear derailleur to ensure fast performance.

Today I tried to start BikeCAD free and Java gives me an error complaining about ClassNotFoundException:basic.bikeCADPro.

...Since this morning.

Also wanted to use this first post to say thank you for this awesome tool. One day when I can afford it (and a new frame) will definitely buy Pro.

Until then, hope the QuickStart is fixed soon. Really itching without it right now.

Clear your Java cache before running the latest version

Thanks for the feedback Tomski and Spike. I suspect you and PBARTOL25MG may be having the same issue. The webpage that launches the free BikeCAD applet expects to run the latest version of BikeCAD. It is very likely that you have an older version of BikeCAD stored in your Java cache. Please try clearing your Java cache and let me know how you get along.

Mark It Solved

Excellent, that did the trick.

Didn't even think of cache outside of the browser. Will forward the link to another friend having the same issue.

Thank you, again!

Adding lights

I regret that there is currently no proper option for showing lights on the bike. Having said that, I was able to create the design below by using the front pannier and cargo option. Instead of modeling a normal pannier mounted to a front rack, I set the dimensions of the pannier really small and shifted the position up to the head tube. Not sure if this looks anything like what you had in mind.
